AMSA
Health Day

AMSA Health Day is a one-day or more annual programme under the Public Health and Global Health Department of AMSA Malaysia, in which medical students organize health programmes with regard to specific themes set each year. The theme of AMSA Health Day2021/2022 is 'Our Smile, Our Health' as decided by National Directors of Public and Global Health AMSA Malaysia 21/22. The exhibition was held in the Hospital Pakar Kanak-Kanak HUKM(HPKK) followed by a closing ceremony in the auditorium. This theme was This selected to fit the outcome of this event, which is primarily to spread awareness on oral health as an integral part of overall health and dental education as the key to improving and advancing the health, well-being, and quality of life of our Malaysian community. It is with great honour that this year, AMSA UKM collaborated with Faculty of Dentistry UKM to make this Health Day a fruitful and informative one for everyone involved.

The main goals of the AMSA UKM Health Day 2021/2022 campaign are to:

  • Increase the awareness of the importance of oral health for the communities in Malaysia

  • Disseminate extensive information relating to oral health (disposing factors, risks, effects, complications, etc).

  • Promote early identification and intervention to minimize the impact of poor oral health for better well-being.

  • Promote a healthy lifestyle that will increase the quality of oral health care by introducing doable ways and daily behavior modification for good oral health.

  • Strengthen bonds between AMSA Member Universities-related organizations by encouraging collaborations to gain a wider coverage of the chosen theme.

In a nutshell, AMSA Health Day was a successful event as both dental and medical students got an insight about the importance of oral care. We are looking forward to the next event by the Public Health department of AMSA UKM.
